The MQG Modern Monthly; Rhythms and Reps

Are you a member of a local modern quilt guild or perhaps an individual member of The Modern Quilt Guild?  If so, I hope you've seen the April issue of their members only newsletter, Modern Monthly. My quilt, Rhythms and Reps is the feature quilt of the month.

The concept is all about exploring various repetition sequences and how they can create a sense of rhythm within a design. If you've followed my blog for awhile you know I love the design process. I spend way too much time playing with ideas and not nearly enough time actually making them into quilts.

One of the benefits of being a member of theMQG is access to a wide variety of resources for members only. In addition to a monthly pattern, there is also a monthly block that always includes a lot of variations on how to use the block. Design explorations are the kind of thing I love about the whole process.

As a member benefit, there are also a lot of very informative webinars to watch plus videos covering all kinds of modern quilting ideas.

I'm a member of the Boulder Modern Quilt Guild so if you live anywhere near Boulder Colorado come visit. We'd love to have you. Check out our website and follow us on Instagram @bouldermqg. Follow me on Instagram too @springleafstudios.

  1. The design reminds me of a keyboard and music ledger. :)

  2. Very interesting design Anne using just straight lines both for piecing and quilting, I like that! Love the colours you've used, that lime green and blue are luscious together.

  6. What a cool piece! I'm not surprised they chose to feature it in the newsletter. Thanks for letting us know that individual memberships are available; I didn't know that.

  8. Hooray for you for hitting print!! I was so happy when I opened my email this month and there you were!! (I think that's way too many exclamation points, but I'm pretty excited about your success.)
I think one thing I love about your work is the time you take for designing. When I was speaking with a new quilter, I said your patterns are the Gold Standard for pattern writing, and suggested she buy a couple to see. I do appreciate all the time you take to have such a spectacular quilt--it's wonderful!

  10. This is my kind of modern! I really appreciate the simplicity of the shapes - the graphic quality of the whole design. And the colors. You’ve done such a nice job with this. As usual, your skills just shine. I will be your “piecing servant” any time! I hope you’re planning to go to QuiltCon 2019. I’ve already got a room!
