November Bee Blocks

A quick post on a WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

I joined another bee. This bee is part of our newish Boulder Modern Quilt Guild. Amy is making a Christmas quilt so she had us whip together these easy cross blocks. She made blocks in the opposite color groupings and then started to piece it all together last weekend at our sew day. It's going to be a really cute Christmas quilt. I usually go more traditional for Christmas but this is very fun.

As usual, I waited till the end of the month to get my Mid Century Modern bee block done. Why do I do that to myself? ugg.  Rene' asked for a spiderweb block with a neutral center and scrappy bright strips. I pulled these fabrics from my scrap drawers without much planning and just love the color mix. I'm thinking this color combo needs to find a way into one of my patterns for next year.  : )

Here's the block. She wanted us to leave the sections separate so she could mix them up for even more scrappiness. Can't wait to see how Rene' pulls them all together. I've never made a spiderweb block before and now I'm thinking maybe I should make some more. We used this tutorial.

That's it for my bee blocks. Now I need to make a mug rug for our guild Christmas party.

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless.

  7. Love this! Your brights are inspired (of course!), and I love your neutral fabric too (shhhh, it will damage my reputation if anyone hears me say I love a neutral!).

Spiderweb is on my bucket list... you make it hard to resist starting one!

  15. Your version of Rene's block is SO pretty! Confession: I haven't made hers yet but plan to do so later today (12/11). So you put your off until the end of the month? I put mine off to the middle of the NEXT month! Ugh. The fabrics in the top blocks are beautiful!
